The tiger was my first animal that was completed years ago. I leaned early on that painting was clearly not my strong suit.
My sister likes big cats so I tried my luck at carving an animal again -- the panther was carved for her. I picked the black panther because it was easy to paint!
My sister wanted a playmate for the first panther so I did a second one. This is the male, the one above is the female (in case you can't tell).
I became interested in carving "shore birds" and carved this Black-Necked Stilt over 20 years ago. I started a duck and an Oyster Catcher right after finishing this one but haven't touched them in at least 20 years. Now that I am retired, they are back on my "to-do" list.
I used the bear to learn "power carving" techniques. The bear is completely carved with power tools. Davy Crockett kilted a barr when he was only three -- this is the barr that 'ole Davy kilted!
The cougar was instructor assisted (Linda Curtis) and made for my sister.
This cat was made for my sister.
